Sunrise Retreats is a nonprofit dedicated to improving the health and well-being of widowed women—a mission we view as a vital public health initiative. While we strive to keep programming affordable and accessible, providing meaningful support takes more than heart. It requires trained professionals, science-based curriculum, skilled facilitation, and compassionate coordination—all thoughtfully designed to meet each participant with care and respect.

Where the Funds Go:

Every payment or donation directly supports the behind-the-scenes work that makes our offerings possible:

• Developing and refining our evidence-informed curriculum
• Hiring and retaining qualified, grief-informed professionals
• Creating welcoming spaces for healing and growth
• Offering financial assistance so no one is turned away
• Sustaining long-term access to services across communities

Why Participants Pay:
While we are a nonprofit, we honor the expertise, time, and resources that go into delivering high-quality programming. Participant fees help cover basic program costs, but donations allow us to bridge the gap—ensuring equitable access while maintaining professional standards. Our goal is to keep services fairly priced, never profit-driven, and always rooted in dignity.

Send Her to Sunrise is a heartfelt way for friends and family to offer true support—beyond casseroles and sympathy cards. You can gift a widow the full experience of a Sunrise Retreat by covering her program cost, or create a personalized donation link so others can join in collectively. Whether it's a solo gesture or a shared effort, you're giving her what matters most: time, space, and care designed to support her healing and well-being.

Watching someone you love navigate widowhood is incredibly hard. While there are many ways to show up—listening with an open heart, helping with day-to-day tasks, cooking a warm meal—gifting her a Sunrise Retreat is a truly meaningful way to say, “I see you, and you deserve support.”

Please note: Funds are applied directly to the program and cannot be distributed to participants. Any amount raised above the $1,249 retreat cost will go toward helping other widowed women attend future retreats.
